Otters Corner

This property is a real romantic getaway, a truly picture postcard cottage recently re-thatched and decorated inside and out.  For the summer it has a pretty small garden to sit in and on the colder evenings you can snuggle up in front of the log burner. Everything is new, the bedroom is spacious and the bed is very comfortable.  It is close to the Fountain Head Inn.  Wonderful walks to the sea where there is the Sea Shanty restaurant which serves good food.  An ideal place for dog owners as there are many miles of walks to be had.

Location:  Otter's Corner is in Branscombe, a lovely village on Devon's south coast where thatched cottages frame the valley and lead down to the sea. The cottage is situated on a picturesque walking route (one of many close by) and is moments from the characterful Fountain Head Inn.

Accommodation:  Outside the cottage is a handy space for cleaning off your wellies (and dog!) As you enter the cottage through the front stable door, there is plenty of handy storage and hanging space as well as a well-equipped utility room with toilet facilities.

The beautifully-decorated open plan dining and sitting room, complete with a window seat overlooking the lane, has a brand-new shaker-style kitchen with all you need for a relaxed or romantic supper. A welcoming log burner is tucked into a fireplace, with a two-seater sofa and armchair in which to cosy-up on during those chilly winter evenings. From the kitchen is a softly-carpeted open tread stairway leading to the first floor. To one side of the landing is a luxuriously-appointed shower room with large shower and fluffy white towels. Opposite is a light and pretty bedroom with painted beams and sloping ceilings in keeping the cottage's original features. There is a king-size bed with white cotton bed linen, dressing table, hanging space and chest of drawers. Finally, as dogs are very much welcome, he or she can curl up on the blankets provided, and dog bowls are ready and waiting.

Outside:  Otter's Corner has an adjacent private courtyard-style garden with table, chairs, parasol and sun lounger. Ideal for al fresco dining. There is a dedicated (and much coveted!) parking space opposite the cottage.

Facilities:  Wash-dryer, sink, small freezer, ironing board, TV, electric oven, induction hob, dishwasher, larder, fridge, microwave, toaster, heated towel racks, hair dryer. Wifi and USB charging points. Bed linen and towels. Dog bowls and blankets provided. Parking for one car. Friday to Friday changeover.

Restrictions:  No smoking inside the property.

Customer Reviews

Just had our second visit to Otter's Corner. We absolutely love the cottage, everything you could possibly want has been thought through and provided, and the quality of everything is exceptional. The bed is one of the most comfortable we have ever slept in, we slept so well it was hard to stick to our resolution to be out walking every day by 9am! The house has a lovely vibe, just exudes peace and quiet, and tranquility. We did manage to walk every day, mostly on the coast path but also found some great walks inland. The scenery is stunning wherever you look.
We love Branscombe, and especially Otters Corner, and wouldn't stay anywhere else now. Hope to be back soon.

Stayed in August. The house is gorgeous and was spotless on our arrival. Loved the wee bottle of prosecco and fudge - a lovely touch. The property was very well equipped. We absolutely love the house. It looks so inviting on the outside and super cosy and comfortable on the inside. Bathroom gorgeous and bed very comfy!
