Great days out along the East Devon Coast

The gorgeous East Devon coast stretches from Lyme Regis on the West Dorset Border to trendy Topsham just East of Exeter.
The area is largely unspoilt with charming towns and villages dotted along the coast offering plenty of staycation holiday home choices if you’re looking for East Devon Coast Cottages.
As a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, East Devon offers much to explore from wooded walks to beautiful beaches and coastal paths with breathtaking views. It’s the perfect place to unwind with your friends and family in all seasons, come rain or shine.
Beer is a popular destination for an East Devon getaway and has much to offer. Time it right and you could enjoy the Beer Regatta week or visit Pecorama (a popular tourist attraction), for more family fun. Tour the site on the Beer Heights Light Railway (a mini steam train) or let the children run off steam in the large indoor soft play area.
The Beer Quarry Caves make a good day out too: you can take a guided tour of 2,000 year old man-made caverns.
The seaside town of Seaton is a stunningly tranquil and relaxing town. Explore the walking and cycling trails, enjoy the Seaton Jurassic family day out (this will take you back in time!) or be adventurous with one of the many water sports on offer at the beach. If the weather looks decidedly British then Seaton Tramway could be the answer. It’s an all-weather attraction which takes you from Seaton along 3 miles of unspoilt countryside along the beautiful Axe Estuary to the picture postcard town of Colyton.
Budleigh Salterton is also a good choice for a quieter break. It’s a beautiful unspoilt town with a breathtaking bay, a babbling brook in the high street, quaint cafes and a museum.
Also along this stretch of coastline, you’ll find Sidmouth, home to the Sidmouth Donkey Sanctuary, which is open all year round, or, plan your East Devon Coast getaway around the Sidmouth Folk week, the Sidmouth Regatta or the Literary Festival.
