Jean Bartlett Cottage Holidays is a family owned company based in Beer, on the World Heritage Coast. We have been successfully letting quality holiday homes in the East Devon area for over 25 years and have a portfolio of over 100 properties, the majority being within a 20 mile radius of our offices.
We employ a team of staff who are not only experienced in the holiday and tourist industry, but also live locally and have a good knowledge of each area. Our staff know our portfolio of properties inside out and as a result they are able to talk to potential holidaymakers with confidence and first hand knowledge. The personalised service we provide is key to achieving high levels of guest satisfaction and repeat bookings.
Where properties are situated close to our offices we are also able to provide a full management service to those owners who require it; we have our own handyman who will deal with minor maintenance issues and a support team of reliable local tradesmen, all of whom are known to us. For properties located further afield, again we can provide a management service based on teams of reliable local tradesmen and caretakers.

With an office in Swanage and a friendly team of Dorset locals who are intimately familiar with this wonderful county and our portfolio of over 120 properties, we can make your property work harder for you, but without any of the hard work.
If you prefer to remain hands-on, we’ll help to make it easier for you, marketing your property and taking bookings and payments on your behalf. If you’d like us to, we can also take care of changeovers, housekeeping, maintenance, or completely manage the property if you wish – it’s up to you.
Whether you’re considering investing in a holiday property, in the midst of building works or renovation, or have one ready to go, we are always more than happy to discuss your requirements and answer any queries you may have. We offer informed and honest income projections, suggestions for property improvements, letting guidance and a full assessment of your property’s potential.

Kelly Lane | East Dorset
I joined the team in April 2014 and I have worked within the industry for many years. My main role is to help owners get the most out of their properties for not only their benefit but also to ensure the customer has a fantastic experience. I also manage the Swanage office plus recruit new properties for our ever expanding portfolio and love looking round all the varied apartments, cottages and houses that Dorset has to offer.
I’ve lived in the Purbeck most of my life and consider myself lucky for doing so! I love exploring the outdoors with my two dogs, there’s so many places to choose from be it a coastal path, forest walk or trip to the beach - it’s a doggy paradise!!
Amy Pye | South Dorset
Dorset is my absolute favourite place! I spent my childhood in Weymouth but moved to Exeter in 2014 and enjoyed the hustle and bustle of the city for nearly 5 years. I have always known that Dorset is where I wanted to live long term, so moved back at the start of the year and now enjoy spending time catching up with friends and family, doing DIY around the house (badly) or walking my cocker spaniel Bruce along the beautiful coastlines!
As a Property Manager, my role is very interesting and varied – no 2 days are ever the same! I love being out and about meeting new homeowners and building lasting relationships with our existing owners too.

I’m lucky to have be born and bred in West Dorset and to have spent my childhood growing up on the beach and exploring hidden holloways. I joined Wyke Dorset Cottages in 2019 having spent the last 20 years working locally as an estate agent. Dorset has a huge amount to offer holiday makers from exploring the Jurassic Coast fossil hunting, attending all the local festival and shows – of which there are many! – to finding out more about the rich historic heritage of Dorset.

From the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have, of course, been focused on supporting our homeowners, guests and staff. Safety has been our top priority, alongside timely information. In a world with so many unknowns, we have cut through the noise to give our homeowners clear, regular and informed communications about the situation, what it means to them, how we’re adapting, and what they need to do to adapt.
We have made sure that we’re always available on the end of a phone or email too, and the feedback from our homeowners has been fantastic – we, and they – feel like our relationships have only strengthened during this time.

Available 7 days a week
The majority of guest bookings take place online, but some do want to talk to us. Whether that’s to make a holiday cottage booking, discuss a booking, or answer some questions about the local area, and so it’s important that we’re available 7 days a week.
Our booking line is open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 6pm on Sunday.
Our Swanage office will take the calls during its opening hours between 9.00am – 5.00pm Monday to Saturday. When the office is closed, or if all our lines are busy, calls will be answered by our friendly Sales Support Team in Norfolk, who will take bookings, answer queries or ensure the customer receives a call back from the local Swanage team, if required.

Two thirds of holiday cottage bookings come from our Websites, and so we put a lot of time and effort into ensuring that they are user-friendly, work across all devices, offer a quality experience, and enable secure payment for our guests.
Our main website, www.dorsetcottages.com has excellent conversion rates, which means that people that view our holiday cottages actually book. All holiday cottages are also featured on our national website, www.originalcottages.co.uk, as well as www.lovecottages.co.uk, which features a large range of carefully selected holiday cottages from local agents. We also pay to list your holiday cottage on numerous affiliate websites, both in the UK and elsewhere across Europe, to ensure that your holiday cottage attains maximum exposure.
Our IT team work hard to ensure that we maintain our position in search engine results, and our marketing team use pay per click advertising where necessary.
We actively engage with guests and other people with an interest in us via our social media channels; Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Google+. We encourage people to “like” us, “share” posts about us, and regularly run competitions to increase interest, and get more people following us. This has become another important tool to generate bookings.
We produce a lifestyle magazine, which showcases our Dorset holiday cottages, as well as Dorset as a destination. The magazine is distributed widely across Dorset, as well as being available to order online.
We send both printed materials and email newsletters to our large database. These communications are high quality, informative and well targeted. Our marketing team track the progress of the campaigns, to ensure that they generate a high rate of bookings
Press and advertising
We work closely with a number of local and national publications, event organisers and community publications to promote our holiday cottages. We focus on generating PR, and getting editorial or advertorial into publications. We’re always on the lookout ways to promote your holiday cottage!
We also advertise in the areas where our holiday cottages are located, to ensure that holiday makers are aware of us. Some of our staff drive branded cars, and we often place signs or banners in key positions.

We often attend local and county shows, which is a great way to meet holiday makers and chat about our holiday cottages. We have high quality displays, and branded materials for people to take away with them.
