Walking Holidays

What better way to enjoy the outstanding natural beauty of Devon and Dorset than to embark on a walking holiday?

With walks for all abilities, and walking trails everywhere, the region is the perfect place to explore on foot taking in exhilarating views, breathtaking landscapes, gently rolling countryside, rugged moorland, picturesque villages, river valleys and some of the finest stretches of coastline in Britain.

There are even some easy-going walking routes that can be enjoyed by people with limited mobility, wheelchairs or pushchairs. Please make sure you are always suitably equipped for your walk and for changing weather conditions.

Many walks have fascinating points of interest. We have listed some of the most popular walks below:

  • South West Coast Path – With 630 superb miles of coastal walking the South West Coast Path is the longest walking trail in England and includes one National Park and five Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. One third is also owned and cared for by the National Trust.
  • Two Moors – This spectacular 103-mile route is a figure of eight and takes you from South Devon all the way to Lynmouth on the north coast.
  • Dartmoor – Walking is probably one of the best ways to enjoy the natural beauty of Dartmoor National Park. On foot, you can explore areas that you might not otherwise know existed.
  • Exmoor – The National Park offers incredibly varied and the unspoilt landscape.
  • The Tarka Trail – 180 miles in the northern part of Devon the trail takes in numerous towns, a great variety of landscapes, and varies between easy and strenuous depending on the location.
