Part of the Edge Barton Manor Estate in the beautiful village of Branscombe situated in a wooded valley with lovely walks through fields or flowing streams or along coastal cliff paths. Close to the sea and nearby towns. The Barn is part of the Edgebarton Manor estate home of Dorothy Wadham when she founded Wadham College Oxford in 1614. The property is a detached, south-facing cottage including accommodation for six and all modern conveniences for a comfortable stay. The house is filled with light and has breath-taking views down a valley of exceptional beauty with a glimpse of the sea. The decor throughout has been done tastefully, with coordinated fittings and furniture. On the walls are paintings of the surroundng area by local artists.
Accomodation:
The entrance leads along a hallway to the kitchen/dining room which is large, light and airy. It has a glass door to the spacious decked balcony where you can watch wildlife in the valley below and the woods beyond. The kitchen has an island space to prepare food, cupboards aplenty and a sink overlooking the valley and the view towards the sea. At the back of the room is an electric oven and hob, a Belfast sink and cupboards. The area is equipped with a microwave, toaster, kettle and other essential conveniences. The adjacent dining area has a large table and chairs and views. There is also a separate utility room with a washing machine and sink with a door leading out to a covered porch, an ideal place to leave muddy boots, walking sticks etc. The entrance lobby has space to put your shoes and coats.
The sitting room has beautiful polished wooden floors, comfortable sofas and a chair, TV with Freeview, tables and a log burner for cold nights. Large patio doors lead onto the balcony, which is spacious and has a wooden table, parasol and seating. It is a perfect place to sip a cocktail on a warm summer night.
Downstairs are four bedrooms and two full bathrooms including an en-suite to the master bedroom. All bedrooms overlook the valley, and beds face windows allowing views. The master bedroom has a king size bed with bedside tables, chest of drawers and wall to wall wardrobes. The en-suite has a bath with over-bath shower unit, wash basin and toilet. Bedroom 2 has a double bed with wardrobe, dressing table and bedside tables. Bedroom 3 has a single bed, wardrobe with shelves, bedside table. Bedroom 4 has a single bed with chest of drawers and hanging space. Family bathroom with bath, over bath shower, wash basin and WC.
Outside: Parking for 2/3 cars. Large lower patio, well stocked flower beds, luxuriant garden. A bucolic idyll.
Facilities: Linen and Towels provided. Washer/dryer.
Restrictions: No barbeques on the upper decked balcony.
