Dating back to the 7th Century, Axmouth was once a smuggling centre
and important port. It is now a delightful country village, featuring
fine examples of 18th & 19th Century farmhouses and cottages, and
within easy access to the coast at Seaton.
Axmouth village is home to a lovely old church, two local inns and a Post Office/store. The Axe estuary is a haven for birds throughout the year and makes a dog friendly pleasant walk to the pretty Axe Harbour and Axe Cliff Golf Club. The beach at Seaton is just a little further and from the village you can access the South West Coastal path which leads through the Landslip or Undercliff.
